Buck’s Loot

An Autumn Leaf Adventure

It is fall in northwestern Pennsylvania and nearly time for Clarion’s Autumn Leaf Festival...

Timid 15-year old Mouse Monroe has big plans for finally winning some respect during competitions at a Boy Scout camporee, but will soon make a discovery that will send him on a week long odyssey through the festival in search of answers to an ancient mystery.

Farmer Simon Grit is a happy man as he harvests his Indian corn in preparation for the festival, but soon an ancient obsession will imperil the fruits of his labors, his relationship with his wife and children, and indeed, his very life.

Abby Grit helps her father by shucking the corn and thinks of carnivals and craft shows, but her head will soon be filled with thoughts of a boy, the irrational behavior of her father, and of a crisis she seems powerless to avert.

Retired judge Theopholis Sweet works late in his office and is annoyed by the sounds of the carnival setting up a block away. Soon he will have much bigger concerns, as he becomes enmeshed in a desperate struggle for possession of evidence of a dark family secret.

The citizens of Clarion look through the official booklet of events for the Autumn Leaf Festival and try to decide which to attend. Little do they know that some of the most exciting are not even listed.
