The
2006 edition of PartyCAD has improvements and new features that will
be welcomed by both old hands and newcomers alike:
• greatly improved
Tent Wizard
• speedy creation of tent assemblies
• new Furniture Gallery
• handier dimensioning
• new project splitter
• rendering on top of photographs
• and more…
Improved Tent Wizard
A series of commands along the top of the new Tent Wizard screen let
you quickly create tents that closely match those your customers
will see on the day of their big event. Now you can add poles, tent
lines, sidewalls, tent floors, pole drapes and socks, a liner,
ruffled drip edges and pennants to the tents you create. The new
wizard also has the flexibility to remove selected poles, drapes and
tent lines if that is what the situation calls for. Some of the new
wizard menus will look familiar to old hands, but even these have
been greatly improved. For instance, the Assembly Menu above still
lets you create any size tent that is a combination of ends and mids,
but now you can control the curvature of the canvas between poles
and so can create tents such as the Anchor Century 100’ tent shown
at the top of the next column, entirely with the wizard.

Nearly any commercial tent can
be added to the new wizard if the necessary data is available—the
program comes with some Anchor tents and much of the Tentnology
line. Hex tents like the one at the left, triangular tents, band
shells, structures — nearly anything can be produced with the new
Tent Wizard.

Attract Button
If your design calls for more than one tent, a new Attract button in
the Furnish module makes it easy to align the tents created with the
Tent Wizard. Tents of any size, shape and orientation can be
assembled to create complex designs such as the one shown below.

New Party Gallery
The Party Gallery is a new way of loading furniture from PartyCAD's
extensive furniture libraries. Getting to the Gallery is as simple
as clicking a button in PartyCAD's Furnish module. Once there,
searching for a needed piece of furniture is as easy as typing a
name and clicking Find. Or, browse through lists of your favorite
pieces, recently used items, your custom furniture or the gallery's
own lists of event-related furniture. Left-click on a picture and a
piece is instantly loaded, or right-click on multiple selections and
load them all at once to save time. The Party Gallery will also
manage lists of your favorite pieces and custom-built furniture.
If your needs are more wide ranging, say if you want to use PartyCAD
to design a home or office, the older Furniture Album is still
available and gives you easy access to PartyCAD's less frequently
used furniture.
Handier Dimensioning
PartyCAD has been able to add dimension lines in the Layout Page
module for many years, but this capability has always been tucked
away on a submenu. Now a dimension button appears on the main Layout
Page screen whenever a plan is selected, making this handy feature
much more accessible.
Advanced Project Management
An Edit/Split Project button has been added to the PartyCAD’s
Project Manager. Clicking this displays a menu similar to the one
below. This allows you to split files relating to a given design off
into a different project. This will prove especially useful for
people who for years have done all their work in a single PartyCAD
project and who now want to split that project apart into smaller,
more easily managed units. This same menu can also be used to remove
all the files relating to a given design from a project.

VR Background Photos
In PartyCAD 9 you can load a digital picture as a background in the
Virtual Reality module. It does take some practice, but now you can
place a rendering of a design on top of any picture to give clients
a better idea of just what you have in mind for their big event.

And More…
—Watermarks now not only print, but are included in any PDF files
that you save or email.
—The last lot size used now becomes the default the next time you
make a new party in the Furnish module.
—When you save an alternate design in Layout Page, PartyCAD now
makes copies of the plans, arrangements and art related to the
design so that the two versions are completely independent.
—Advanced users will appreciate a new Piece Editor that allows for
easier editing of custom furniture. This same module makes it easy
to create fancier icons for pieces, and can even import simple 3D
models from other CAD programs.
