Painted Floor Plans and Views

A Paint button has been
added to the Layout Page module. When a design in nearing
completion, you select a floor plan or drawn view and click this
button to add color. PartyCAD then paints the part using furniture
colors you selected while designing the event. If you want something
a little different, it’s very easy to customize the default color
scheme.
Painting has been available in the View module for some time, but
Paint in Layout Page is much more flexible than this older
technique. And too, colored views can now be incorporated into any
PDF files you may create—something that was not possible in earlier
versions of PartyCAD.
Line Drawing in the Furnish Module

A new Drawing Menu has been added to PartyCAD’s Furnish module. With
this you can easily add lines, arcs, boxes, smooth curves, arrows
and dimensions to your work during the design phase. Never again
will the need to make an oddly shaped area or show a dimension have
you scratching your head.
A New Way to Make Landscapes

The Drawing menu
discussed above also makes it very easy to create any landscapes you
may need. All you to do is create a building lot of the correct size
and then draw in the needed terrain features. When it comes time to
save your work, a new Also Color and Save a Landscape option allows
you to add colors and textures, and automatically saves the finished
landscape as a background image, all ready to use as you begin your
design work.
Easier Furniture Creation

In addition to drawing
simple lines, the new Draw Menu in the Furnish module also allows
you to create 3D pieces of furniture. Such 3D objects show up in
PartyCAD's View and Virtual Reality modules. Extruded lines, simple
shapes, extruded shapes and bodies of rotation can all be created in
this way.
Handier Piece Editor

Often the next step
after creating a piece of furniture is to edit it using the Piece
Editor. It is here you can change the colors and other
characteristics of your new piece. Entry into the Piece Editor has
been greatly improved for 2007. From the Furnish module, you simply
select any piece or group of furniture, click the Edit Piece button
and what you have selected will be loaded into the editor. Clicking
Save in the Piece Editor returns the modified piece for immediate
use within the Furnish module.
Improved Piece Saving

Pieces you create with
the Draw menu or load from PartyCAD's furniture libraries can be
combined using the Furnish module to create quite complex 3D
objects. Once you have assembled your piece of furniture, clicking
the Save As 1 button saves it to a furniture library on disk. This
procedure has been improved in Version 10 to allow you to easily
create fancy thumbnails to represent your pieces in PartyCAD's
furniture catalogs. The illustration above shows the difference
between the old and new thumbnails for the classic DINO piece,
created in 1987, 20 years ago.
New Furniture Creation Video

When taken as a whole, the features just described radically change
how new pieces of furniture are created in PartyCAD. A new Making 3D
Furniture video explains all aspects of the new methods. It may be a
while before you can produce something as complicated as the
motorcycle below, but the tools are now in place for you to do so,
and certainly, most everyday items you may need to produce should be
well within your grasp.
New Furniture for 2007
A nice selection of new pre-built pieces of furniture has also been
added to PartyCAD's furniture libraries:

A WayCool cooler, box and salamander heaters, and a heat pipe…

A mobile generator, motorcycle, Adirondack chair and portable
display…

A bowl and salad tray for table tops. A 54" serpentine table (four
of these make a circle with a inner diameter of 48" and an outer
diameter of 108"). A stretchy triangle…

Nifty new curved Bil-Jax staging components in two heights - 15" and
30". These load as an group of pieces, which can then be broken and
used to construct many distinctive stages.
Finally, clamshell tent tops with open ends, one gable or two have
been added to the available tent pieces in the Furniture library.
