Clembo's Jetski Adventure

One of last summer's highlights for us was the morning that my brother, Clem, treated us to an hour of Jet-Ski riding. We had a wonderful time skimming along at high speed and didn’t even hurt ourselves. When Pete and I returned home, we decided to make this game for my brother as a sort of a "thank you" for the adventure.

Pete and I created Clembo together. His experience with Klik n Play, the predecessor to Click & Create, was invaluable in the early going. Click & Create`s printed documentation is mostly inspirational, and the on-line help is sketchy at best, so much experimentation was required. Still, using the program was always an interesting experience, and by keeping lots of backups we avoided losing work during our many experiments.

The game took about two weeks of enjoyable combined effort. At the end, Pete had done most of the basic game programming, and I had handled the sequencing, splash screens and information frames. In all, it took about 40 hours of work to create Clembo.

The game scenario is as follows. The A-Team is trying to save a lady's beach rental property from evil developers. As the game start, Murdock has fallen off of the Jet-Ski needed to vanquish the bad guys in a race that afternoon. Recovered by a civilian named Clembo, the Jet-Ski is first guided though a swamp inhabited by deadly green-head flies. Upon leaving the swamp, Clembo must evade pursuing water craft and make his way to the starting line of the race. In the final level, Clembo must win the race. If he can do this, he gets an attaboy from Hannibal Smith.
